Quantum Computing represents a lot more than Windows 8 in terms of computational power. A Quantum computer is one that has hardware that makes use of the strange properties of the Quantum World of physics. Such computers will basically be fast. Very fast. Many many orders of magnitude faster than any supercomputer built today.
And we've just moved a [qu]bit closer to getting them.

Second Earth Discovered

NASA has discovered a new Exoplanet in the Glise 581 system (Currently named Glise 581g) that has the right temperature and size to support human life.
One interesting detail is that this planet doesn't have days. One side is perpetually cold (think north/south pole), and the other is pleasant, because this planet doesn't rotate on its axis.
